Bilocation is the manifestation of your form (astral or physical) in another place that is different from where your physical body is. It has been reported in more than one instance that yogis and spiritual teachers have appeared to their students, whilst their body is actually elsewhere. The illusion that the person was appearing in form to the spectator is called bilocation.

Often, this is a result of astral projection. This is a case where a person observes the astral body of the person who is astral projecting. It is likely that the person observing the astral form has a highly developed consciousness and is able to perceive spiritual energy that the ordinary person cannot. Either that, or the person who is actually doing the bilocation is putting extra attention and effort into making himself or herself visible to the ordinary person. It is not uncommon for the astral projection form of the journeyer to deliver a message to the observer, or give some sort of inspiration or upliftment.

Near Death Experiences (NDEs) are the ultimate astral projection, in a way. It is an out of body experience that goes further than just about any astral experience can, bringing one to the gates of death, or transition, as I like to call it. The person who has an NDE often comes back with full consciousness of the event. He or she retains memories of the “other side,” which is actually an astral dimension. Technically, a person who is having an astral projection can experience that same place even though he or she is not having a near death experience.

Many people think that they have gone further than they really have during a near death experience. The astral plane is only one layer, or frequency, removed from the earth plane. It would be as if it is the next radio station on the dial. There is some speculation in some schools of thought as to whether or not the astral plane is as far as a person can go in his or her astral form without having to give up the body. Some believe that if a person goes beyond the astral realm, death is the result of the physical body. Some will say that the universe is our playground and that everything is open to us as a human, whether we are incarnate or not. However, no one has really proved this one way or another, so no one really knows. It seems that the astral worlds could be very large unmapped territory to human consciousness, and that our adventures have only begun as far as exploring the human perception of the astral dimension.
