It is important to have an environment that is conducive to astral projections. You must feel safe and at ease. It must be an environment free of emotional or mental stress as well. If you live in an abusive or disruptive household, you will have a difficult time with astral projections, not only because it will be difficult to relax your spirit, but also because there may be negative energies around the area if your house is disruptive.

A calm state of mind and emotions are necessary for success with astral projection. Make sure you have cleared up pressing matters and have clarity in your mind and heart before embarking on an astral journey. If you have issues in your mental or emotional bodies that remain unresolved, they may prevent you from being able to achieve astral projections. This is a safety mechanism that is actually built into your consciousness, and could be a good thing, actually. If you have unresolved issues from childhood, or anger at a spouse, child, parent or other person, you may find yourself fighting these demons within you in the astral worlds, where you are only a beginner. It is important that you learn to master your mind and emotions on the Earth plane before you enter the astral worlds, for on the Earth plane there is a slower law of cause and effect, and time to reverse actions and reactions. On the astral plane, the law of cause and effect is immediate, and emotional and mental overtones are immediately reflected back to you. This can attract some unsavory entities to come and toy with you if you are not in a good place in your inner landscape.

If you are finding it difficult to achieve an astral projection, even after much effort and following instructions and techniques that are known to produce astral projections, you may actually be preventing astral projections unconsciously because of unresolved issues within your heart and mind. Examine your mental and emotional states and see if there are some underlying issues that you need to clear up first before entering the astral worlds. Perhaps you may need to simply make peace with your past and accept it and surrender to it if your life has not turned out to be everything you had hoped it would. Harboring resentments, whether it is conscious or unconscious, makes fertile ground for unpleasant experiences on the astral planes. Your consciousness has a built in safety mechanism to keep you from those experiences by keeping you earthbound until you work them out. It is possible to override this safety mechanism, but not necessarily a good idea if you don’t want to experience what might be a possibly terrifying or disturbing encounter with dark entities or energies.

If you find that you are not in the right physical, mental or emotional environment for astral projections, you may want to wait until you are in the right atmosphere before attempting to have OBEs(Out of Body Experiences). You will have better experiences if you are in the right environment, inside and outside or your body, than you will if you “push the river” before you are ready. Also, you may want to refrain from attempting astral projections if you are physically ill. Physical illnesses can “bleed through” into your astral experiences and cause disturbing conditions or events. Below are a few pointers about setting up the right environment for your adventures in the astral worlds:

Isolation:

  1. You should be undisturbed so you don’t come back with a jolt due to noise or the touch of another person

Noise:

  1. Ear plugs, music, or use “white noise” to block out other noises

Distractions:

  1. Alone vs. with someone near, or a pet
  2. Phone off
  3. Take care of business so that your mind doesn’t wander to your “to do” list
  4. Thoughts cleared, calm state of mind
  5. No visitors

Temperature:

  1. Warm
  2. Blankets useful, body temp drops after projection

Clothing:

  1. Loose, warm, comfortable

Light:

  1. None, best if it is dark in the room.

Fears:

  1. Examine and face them all so that you don’t run into them in the astral worlds where they might be quite exaggerated
  2. Affirmations, affirm that you are willing and able to have astral projections, believe!
  3. Fears are ego based, not soul based, so go beyond ego, remember who you really are, that you are eternal consciousness, free to go wherever you want to go in the universe
  4. Calm your emotions: anger, fear or depression are not good to have in your energy when you have astral projections, they can be quite detrimental to your quality of experiences
