You may even meet partners during that time who will go into business with you. Be careful with business partnerships however, for they are just as susceptible to disagreements as a marriage. I personally think that a business is best run by one person, unless it is a fairly straightforward business like a furniture store or a bookstore. If it is a business that requires a lot of creative thinking and planning, with a specific vision, two heads may not be better than one. If you feel you need input from an outside source, seek advice from your friends, or your Board of Directors, but you may want to run your business yourself so that you can always call the shots. There is nothing that undoes a business faster than a disagreement between its two owners. I have seen more than one metaphysical business become undone by an argument or disagreement between two business partners. Things may go along smoothly for a while, but there may be an important crossroad that the business reaches where the two owners disagree on the path to be chosen. It is unfortunate, but not even metaphysical businesses are immune from this reality.

So these are some of the logistics that you will need in order to start your business. You may or may not need all of these aspects, but at least you have information as to what you need to get started. I would advise that you start small, perhaps with a few business cards and operate out of your home, and only go so far as getting your DBA to begin with if you're going to have a separate name for your business instead of your own individual name as a person. As your business grows, you will then have the money to go to the next level with your business. No bureaucratic entity is that concerned with someone who does a few psychic readings here and there or teaches a few classes, so don't be overzealous in spending all your money on a business that is not in existence yet. Start humbly and small, perhaps give some sessions and a few classes, and do things in your own name to begin with. Report your extra income on your income tax forms as an individual in the beginning. When you have a real name for your business and you begin to branch out and truly make money, this is the time to make your business official. In the meantime, try on different business names and identities and see what fits for you. Your business ideas may have a metamorphosis as you go on. By the end of the year of practicing you will have a better idea of what your business will be called, what it will look like, and what your goals are with it.
