Author Comments:

Man Myth & Magic, Vol. 3 (1985) editor in chief, Richard Cavendish reports that this is the chakra where one is liberated "from the consequences of past actions... concerning reincarnation and the supposed burdens of karma..."

In The Chakra Handbook (1999), Shalila Sharamon and Bodo J. Baginski say, "Conscious perception of Being takes place through the sixth chakra. It is the seat of our higher mental powers, our intellectual capacity to distinguish, our memory and our will. On the physical plane it is the highest center of command for the central nervous system... It is here that we can manifest matter and dematerialize it. We are able to create new realities at the physical level and dissolve old ones… This process takes place automatically and without conscious action on our part. "

In his book Chakra Breathing (1994), Helmut G. Sieczka says that an open energy flow in the sixth chakra brings balance of all bodily parts and organs, acceptance of opposites, balance of feminine and masculine qualities, a strong connection with one's soul, self-knowledge, the gift of intuitive vision, contact with one's inner guidance, openness to spiritual experience, and strong powers of the mind and will. Blockages in this chakra result in problems with concentration and self-identity, fear of criticism and judgment, strongly controlling behavior, denial of reality, repetitive thoughts and inner dialogues, forgetfulness, unrelenting pressure to achieve, and a low level of trust in one's emotions and perceptions.

In Healing With The Energy Of The Chakras (1998), Ambika Wauters says "...When it is partially developed it reflects intellectual ideas, theories and ideologies." In its purest and most functional state, it "reflects Divine Wisdom." She also writes, "Through a lifetime of rigorous... [with focus] on the development of this chakra, Tibetan lamas can actually control the moment of their death."

Shirley MacLaine connects this chakra with the third eye in Going Within (1989)and says that it "controls all incoming and outgoing thoughts and visions."
