Lesson 253

"My Self is ruler of the universe."

Everything that happens to me I have brought upon myself. I rule my destiny even in this world. Whatever I desire I bring to myself. If I do not want something to happen, it does not occur. I must accept this. Then I can go beyond this world to Heaven where my holy Self is.

"You are the Self Whom You created Son, creating like Yourself and one with You. My Self, Which rules the universe, is but Your Will in perfect union with my own, which can but offer glad assent to Yours, that it may be extended to Itself."

Lesson 254

"Let every voice but God's be still in me."

Father, today I would but hear Your Voice. In deepest silence I would come to You, to hear Your Voice and to receive Your Word. I have no prayer but this: I come to You to ask You for the truth. And truth is but Your Will, which I would share with You today."

Today, we will not let our ego control how we speak or act. When thoughts of doing so occur we examine them and let them go. We have no use for what they bring. We choose to release them. They are silent and still, hallowed by His Love and He speaks to us about our will, now that we choose to remember Him.

Lesson 255

"This day I choose to spend in perfect peace."

It is hard to see how my only choice is to be in peace today. But my God tells me that His Son is like Himself. Let me have faith in Him today. Let the peace I choose to have today be a witness to the truth of what He says. I have no cares and remain in the peace of Heaven forever because I am God's Son.

"And so, my Father, would I pass this day with You. Your Son has not forgotten You. The peace You gave him still is in his mind, and it is there I choose to spend today."

Lesson 256

"God is the only goal I have today."

Forgiving here is the only way to God. If it were not for sin, we would not need to find the way to where you are. No one would be uncertain or unsure of who he is. We forgive him today in whom all sin is impossible. Our minds return to Him at last by way of forgiveness.

"And so, our Father, would we come to You in Your appointed way. We have no goal except to hear Your Voice, and find the way Your sacred Word has pointed out to us."

Lesson 257

"Let me remember what my purpose is."

I am only confused when I forget my goal. If I am unsure of what I am I will feel conflicted with my actions. You cannot serve two goals very well that contradict each other. This will cause distress and depression. We must be focused on our goal today and unify our thoughts and actions in a meaningful way. Let us accomplish what God wants us to do today.

"Father, forgiveness is Your chosen means for our salvation. Let us not forget today that we can have no will but Yours. And thus our purpose must be Yours as well, if we would reach the peace You will for us."

Lesson 258

"Let me remember that my goal is God."

Our one need is to teach our minds to go past all the small petty aims so that we can remember that our goal is God. We have His memory in our minds, hidden by these empty little goals that don't even really exist.

"Our goal is but to follow in the way that leads to You. We have no goal but this. What could we want but to remember You? What could we seek but our Identity?"

Lesson 259

"Let me remember that there is no sin."

If we believe that sin is real then the goal of God seems unattainable. It is the only thing that can blind us to the obvious. Sin is the only source of guilt and suffering, demanding that we are punished. Sin is the source of fear, hiding the fact of God's creation. It mingles love with fear and attack.

"Father, I would not be insane today. I would not be afraid of love, nor seek for refuge in its opposite. For love can have no opposite. You are the Source of everything there is. And everything that is remains with You, and You with it."
