Description: Aquamarine is a pale blue-green color. It is a variety of beryl, which crystallizes prismatically, vertically striated and occasionally terminated with small pyramidal faces. Aquamarine has a structured-ness to its energy, resulting in balance and order. By its nature, it has an aligning effect on the chakras and a balancing effect on the structures connecting the physical and ethereal bodies. At one time, eyeglasses were crafted from Aquamarine because of its soothing influence.
Location: Aquamarine is found in the United States, Mexico, Russia, Brazil, and India.
Spiritual Uses: Aquamarine is worn or carried to enhance the use of psychic powers, allowing the psychic impulses to be heard and acknowledged by our consciousness. It brings a more spiritual level of awareness to its holder, enhancing the connection to the higher-self. Aquamarine stimulates, activates, and cleanses the throat chakra, which aids in communication of a higher quality than the mundane. For these spiritual reasons, aquamarine is also used to ease a sore throat on the physical level. It is much like the amethyst in its ability to sooth and calm emotional problems. Aquamarine, because it emits a gentle and compassionate energy, exhibits qualities of moderation, helping balance judgmental people with more tolerance, and helping people overwhelmed with responsibilities to have more of a sense of order. It is great for helping one to take responsibility for one’s actions and for the situations one encounters. It is also an excellent meditation stone, helping to attune its holder to nature, and quieting the mind.
Physical Uses: Aquamarine has the ability to stabilize and harmonize unsettled surroundings, acting as a filter for unnecessary information to the brain, calming the nerves, clarifying perception, and strengthening the body’s cleansing organs. Because it is cleansing and purifying, aquamarine is worn or rubbed on the body prior to magical acts for purification. Cleansing baths can also be made by placing a large crystal in the bathtub. Aquamarine is worn or carried as a protective amulet while sailing or flying over water and fishermen/sailors have used it for a long time to ward off danger at sea. It has been worn to relieve the pain of toothache and to cure illness of the stomach, throat, and jaw. The stone has also been worn to ensure good health, and to give strength and courage to its wearer. Because of these qualities, it was used as a protection for those going to battle. A stone with similar strengths to Aquamarine is Copper, which, when combined with Aquamarine and set in the sunlight for 8-24 hours will intensify the filtering capacities of both stones. Aquamarine is a good stone for teachers, counselors, and massage practitioners.
History: Aquamarine beads were found in ancient Egyptian mummy pits, and the stone was associated with the sea goddesses of old. Sea witches are said to cleanse the stone in ocean water under the Full Moon light. In medieval times, Aquamarine, like other blue stones, was believed to be a general tonic. It was also believed to procure the aid and favor of the spirits of light and wisdom, while dispelling the spirits of darkness.
Different Types: Aquamarine Phantom Crystal combines the qualities of Aquamarine and the qualities of a Phantom Crystal, which together aid in the activation of memory of past-life experiences. So, do use caution in your use of the Aquamarine Phantom Crystal. The Cat’s Eye Aquamarine brings the qualities of the Cat’s Eye mineral together with the qualities of Aquamarine. During discussions with others, this combination of energies has been used to stimulate the clairvoyant state.
