History: Carnelian was worn in ancient Egypt on the hand to still jealousy, anger, envy, and hatred. Armenians in the 17th century believed that if the stone was powdered and taken as a potion, it would excite joyful emotions and banish all dark thoughts. Wearing Carnelian was, as known through folklore, supposed to help those who had a weak voice or were timid speakers. This was thought to work also because the stone is a warm color, which is said to give wearers the courage they needed to speak boldly and with conviction. Carnelian was further believed to keep away evil and the devil. It is mentioned in the Bible as a stone included on the breastplates for priests and soldiers. In Renaissance times, the stone was engraved with a warrior or sword image, and, when placed in the home, was supposed to guard the house from disaster.
Different Types: When combined with Chlorite and Ruby, Carnelian has been used to dispel psychic attacks, assisting spirits bound to the earth to leave a location. These three minerals are also used to protect their user and their user’s environment from the return of negative energies. To facilitate connection between the higher self and the physical self, Carnelian is combined with Kammererite.
