Geode

Description: Geode is recognized, usually, by a spherical configuration which contains a cavity lined with a crystalline structure growing toward the center. Configured in the form of a closed shell, usually containing quartz, amethyst, citrine, or calcite, it is partially filled with crystals projecting into the hollow interior. A film of clay separates the Geode from the usual limestone or “mud” matrix. All quartz crystals, in fact, form within geodes, which may be a quarter-mile long or small enough to fit in your palm. Some Geodes don’t contain separate crystals but, when sliced, reveal intricate patterns. Amethyst Geodes are some of the most beautiful objects on Earth and when sliced or broken open, they reveal a mass of purple crystals all growing towards the center.

Location: All across the Earth.

Astrological Sign: Virgo, and the element Water

Spiritual Uses: The Geode exhibits several properties itself in addition to the properties of the contained minerals and these properties include: facilitation of astral travel, and assistance in the pursuits of mathematics. Amethyst Geodes, or any geode containing isolated crystals, can be held and used in meditation as a contemplative object. Geodes, when placed on the altar or held, can be utilized to concentrate the powers of the specific type of stone contained within them. Prior to decision-making, the Geode can help one to both recognize and analyze the total picture. It also allows one the freedom to mold and to shape one’s own future, assisting one in attaining highly effective communication skills and furthering one’s connection to the higher forces and the higher planes. Geodes stimulate the bridge of association with those of like pursuits.

Physical Uses: To increase fertility and promote conception, Geodes can be placed in the bedroom and charged with energy. Due to their roundness and their containment of crystals, Geodes are egg symbols, relating to the Great Mother Goddess. Geodes can be used in the treatment of disorders associated with the hands, lungs, and the nervous system. The “brain geode,” found with a conglomerate on the exterior of the Geode, has been used in the treatment of brain tumors and mental imbalances.

History: In the Middle Ages, Geodes were thought to be favored by eagles, who placed the stones in their nests.

Different Types:  Many different types of gemstones are contained within Geodes.
