Description: The Herkimer Diamond is actually a unique form of Quartz, and not Diamond, as one might think from the name. The Herkimer crystallizes in the configuration of double-terminated short, stout, clear or included prismatic crystals. Herkimers are similar to Diamonds in that they help to increase the energy and healing qualities of other stones. They are especially clear crystals that refract light internally, allowing one to see rainbows within the crystal.
Location: The Herkimer Diamond derives its name from the fact that it was discovered in Herkimer, New York.

Spiritual Uses: The Herkimer Diamond is known as an “attunement stone,” and it can be used to attune oneself with another person, environment, or activity. They are very old stones and within them is a storehouse of ecological memory that can be utilized by a person who can tune into the energy. They can help guide you in remembering your own past-life experiences. Herkimer can accept and retain information which can be retrieved at a later time and information can also be stored within the Herkimer prior to giving the mineral to another. Once the stone is implanted with “thoughts of love,” it can be used to facilitate healing and well-being for others and for the Earth. Herkimer is a good stone to use prior to the “laying on of stones” or in other healing sessions when the healer and subject are not well acquainted. To do this, both the healer and the subject of healing should hold the Herkimer for several minutes prior to the session. This allows the two people’s energy to mingle, and furthers the healing process, if the healer remembers to stay grounded. Two Herkimers can also be held simultaneously by two people, each person carrying one of the Herkimers. This will psychically attune the two people. Herkimer stimulates clairvoyant and clairaudient abilities and can assist one in prescience and in telepathic communication. Herkimer Diamonds help one to “just be,” providing for both surrender and strength while allowing for the further recognition of the essential being within the self. Its energy is of delicate harmony, and this energy enhances distinct awareness and unbridled spontaneity. Herkimers also assist one in clearing the body-mind system of unconscious fears and repressions, which allows one to relax and expand life energy.
Physical Uses: Herkimer Diamonds work as auxiliary filters that accent the natural filtering abilities of the body. If a person is in good physical and mental health, the body naturally filters out toxins before they can be damaging, but if a person is unhealthy (and their defenses in need of a boost), Herkimer Diamonds can give that boost. Herkimers do this by dispersing toxins that have accumulated in the body and re-building the cellular structure. People who work in proximity to radioactive materials should either wear or carry this stone as a form of protection and to dissipate any harmful rays. Herkimers have been used to correct imbalances in RNA/DNA and in the metabolic rate. This mineral can help to align the energy structure of the user by alleviating tension, and calming the outer bodies and the physical body. By releasing the tensions and rigidities of body tissues, Herkimer further assists in the recovery of memory by these areas, which facilitates healing.

Different Types: Amethyst Herkimer Diamonds are found in Tanzania and Mexico. These stones integrate the properties of the Amethyst with the properties of Herkimer Diamonds, forming a very powerful stone. Herkimer Diamonds can be found mingling in the same formation as Rutile and Geothite, and the respective formations contain the properties of Herkimer blended with the other mineral’s properties.
