Using Crystals In Your Home Environment
Crystals can also be incorporated into the general design, or Feng Shui of your home. Feng Shui is, essentially, the art of placement. From the book Feng Shui (2002)by Gill Hale, we are told, “Feng Shui gives us advice on how to create environments in which we feel comfortable and supported.” As you guessed, crystals can help us achieve this purpose. Many people hang crystals in their windows for decoration and to bring light into their space. From the book, we find that “crystals are used to bring a sparkle to stuck energy. Suspend one in a window and the light will shine through it, creating a rainbow effect on a wall or ceiling.”
Certain crystals have long been known to be “dream helpers,” many of which have been mentioned in the crystals reference section of the course. Amethyst is one such stone. From The Crystal Handbook (1987)by Kevin Sullivan, we find “much of the work of the subconscious occurs during dreaming, and tissue regeneration is at its peak during REM states.” Why not use a crystal to help facilitate peaceful dreams and effective tissue regeneration? Keep in mind that only specific crystals are recommended for sleeping with, usually placed underneath your pillow, and there are some that serve entirely different purposes.
In Scott Cunningham’s Crystal, Gem, And Metal Magic (1987), he gives a list of crystals that are projective and a list of those that are receptive. The projective stones, Scott says, are energizing and useful for healing, protection, courage, and self-confidence. In essence, they put out energy, whereas, the receptive stones are soothing and de-stressing, and are related to love, wisdom, compassion, sleep, and dreams. So, since this type of stone is not projecting energy out, interfering with the peaceful state of dreaming, their receptive nature allows them the opportunity to share your dream space, if you choose. Some examples of good sleep and dream stones are amethyst, azurite, crystal quartz, emerald, jasper, lapis, moonstone, pearl, peridot, sapphire, tourmaline, and turquoise.
