Though Japanese Reiki has gained the most publicity, Reiki is ancient and has been used all over the world throughout time. It is believed that the people of Lemuria and Alantis as well as the Mayans were the first to begin using these types of universal energy healing techniques. Then, the art spread to Egypt, India, Tibet, China, and Japan. The Egyptians had a well developed system of using universal healing. However, the Pharaoh held all the power and knowledge. Apparently, when the Pharaoh died their system of using universal healing energy was also lost. Recently a man named Patrick Ziegler channeled messages from The Spring of the Intelligent Energy while in an Egyptian pyramid. In Egypt he learned about this Egyptian style of Reiki partly from a man called Marat. Then he developed his own system, which has been given many names and developed with the help of many teachers over the years. Some of these names are Sekhem, Seichim, Seichem, SKHM, SSR, and Isis Seichim but the roots of them all come from the same place. Though there are stylistic differences between these types of energy work and Reiki, it is basically the same art that has developed in different parts of the world and has been influenced by different people throughout time.
