Other Types And Styles Of Reiki
(This is an excerpt from a University Of Metaphysical Sciences course at www.umsonline.org, please feel free to visit the school website)
There are many different styles of Reiki that are all important in their own way. Some are traditional and some combine other metaphysical practices with Reiki. In this next section, the more well known types of Reiki will be discussed. However, there are so many types that I cannot go over all of them in this course. This is also a very brief and somewhat shallow description of each type of Reiki, so if any type sparks interest, then look up their web page before you make a decision.
Adama
Starfire Reiki
“Adama Starfire Reiki” is a special style of Reiki that involves
channeling Reiki energy from the Earth and stars. Some describe the types
of Reiki energy practiced in this style as “firey.” It has
also helped people overcome obstacles in their lives. More information
can be found at this web site: http://adamastarfirereiki.com.
Alef Reiki
“Alef
Reiki” is a type of Reiki that uses the Hebrew alphabet. It does
not use symbols but instead uses Hebrew words. The idea in this style
is that the patients will heal themselves with the help of God or in Hebrew
“ADONAI.” The practitioner depends upon his or her intuition
to find the patient’s illness or pain. You can go to this web site
to find out more: www.skatterhq.com/alefreiki.htm.
Angel Touch Reiki
This type of Reiki uses the power of the Angles combined with Reiki to
boost the healing power. It is a group where they offer free Reiki circles
and a free chat room. Find out more at www.angeltouch.net.
Angelic
Raykey (Reiki)
Angelic Ray Key involves more focus on ceremonies, symbols and prayers
than traditional Reiki. It is based on the teachings of how to heal the
Earth by starting with yourself. It is believed that the world can be
healed if you begin by healing yourself, then healing your family, then
your town, and your state, eventually the whole earth will be healed.
If this type of Reiki interests you, find out more at this Web site: http://liteweb.org/raykey/index.html.
Ascension
Reiki
“Ascended Masters” are believed to have channeled symbols
in the development of this system of Reiki. These “Ascended Masters”
are believed to have been enlightened after many incarnations into this
realm. It also incorporates teachings or the Bible, the Book of Remembrance,
Jesus, and Mother Mary into the Reiki system. Furthermore, Reiki is thought
of as a Gift of Love. This organization has helped many people and can
be found at www.ascensionreiki.com.
Blue
Star Reiki
This was originally called “Blue Star Celestial Energy and was channeled
by John Williams while he was in South Africa. It came from a mysterious
ancient Egyptian school source called “Os-Mo-Ro-Pup.” The
goal of this type of Reiki is not just to heal the individual’s
body but to achieve spiritual growth. It is believed to bridge the space
between God and humans. If you want more information visit this web site:
www.angelfire.com/mb/manifestnow/bluestar.html.
Brahma
Satya Reiki
Deepak Hardikar channeled this Reiki energy from Shiva Shakti. It uses
five more “sanskrit” symbols and knowledge of the nine chakras.
Other concepts in this style are “Healing Through Balance”
and “Micro Vibration Analysis.” “Astral Healing Powered
Healing Grid” and the “Divya Sutra” is opened. These
concepts are defined at Deepak Hardikar’s web page which is
http://education.vsnl.com/brahmasatya/EVOLUTION.htm.
Celtic
Reiki
Celtic Reiki is a unique system of Reiki that combines the ancient wisdom
of the Celtic people with Usui’s version of Reiki. It uses rituals
and helps heal physically as well as overcome everyday problems. The vibrations
of particular trees are very similar to the vibrations used in Reiki.
Therefore, plants are used to assist the Reiki energy. Also divinations,
magic and the Druidic alphabet are interwoven into this healing art. If
you are fascinated by both celtic wisdom and Reiki then go to this web
site and find out more www.healthynewage.com/Celtic-Reiki-Kundalini-Reiki.htm.
Enersense-Buddho
This Reiki style is based on the ancient teachings of Tibetan and Indian
healing methods, which were kept secret for many years. Monks were the
only people to practice this healing technique until Seiji Takamori, a
Japanese monk, brought the ancient wisdom of this art to the Western world.
It is a holistic approach to healing and involves meditation, traditional
exercises, breathing methods, Chi practices, and other regular practices.
Find out more at www.healing-touch.co.uk/pa-e-int.htm.
Jinlap
Maitri Reiki Or Tibetan Reiki
In this system of Reiki there are five levels. Therefore, it is a good
system to get involved in if you want to expand your knowledge of Reiki
beyond the first three levels. It is basically a combination of Buddhist
tradition and Tibetan medicine. There are mantras, symbols, and techniques
that are unique to this system, but the traditional basis still holds
strong. Learn more at www.angelfire.com/mb/manifestnow/Jinlap.html.
Johrei
Or Jo Reiki
This is a fellowship that has a system of beliefs as well as many philosophies
and practices that go far beyond the Reiki healing system. It is not a
fellowship that helps a person learn Reiki themselves as much as a system
that gives Reiki freely over a distance. This is a fellowship that practices
Johrei as a way of life, not just a healing practice. Visit their web
site to fully understand who they are at www.johreifellowship.com.
Karuna
Reiki
Karuna Reiki is a branch of Usui/Tibetan Reiki that was developed by William
Rand who is also the founder of the International Center for Reiki Training.
He added more symbols and condensed the training into two levels. Information
about his system and about Reiki in general can be found at the Center’s
web site which is www.reiki.org.
Komyo
Reiki
Komyo Reiki is basically traditional Japanese Reiki as taught by Usui
Mikao Sensei. This is authentically Japanese and taught by a man from
Japan. It is being taught by Inamoto Hyakuten who lives in Australia.
He has a web site www.h4.dion.ne.jp/~reiki/english/index.html.
Lightarian Reiki
The Lightarian Reiki institution is devoted to “Global Human Transformation.” It was founded by Christopher and Jeanine Marie Jelm in 1997. Now it has spread all over the globe and offers many types of classes on six levels. It does not use symbols because they believe intent is what truly matters. It also uses concepts such as “Gaia” the Earth Mother and a Godhead to give a global spiritual basis for the system. The institution’s web site is www.lightarian.com/aboutus.htm.
Mackenzie
Clay
Leonie Owen-Rosenberg created this system of Reiki and teaches in Arizona.
It is said to be simpler and more powerful than traditional Reiki because
it strengthens confidence and spiritual empowerment. It is believed to
be most like the SKHM, Seichem, Seichim, and Sekhem systems of Reiki.
However, the nine symbols used are not from these traditions. You can
find more at http://www.mahatmareiki.com/index.shtm.
Medicine
Reiki
Medicine Reiki combines the power of Reiki with the wisdom of the traditional
Native Americans. It uses Reiki and also the power of Native concepts
such as Brother Bear, Grandmother Moon, the fire, and drums. The healing
process may involve contact with spirit guides and totem animals. Visit
www.medicinereiki.com to find out more.
Newlife
Reiki-Seichim
This is a system that was developed by Margot “Deepa” Slater.
It is different because it uses the teaching of a “Bodhisattva Warrior”
as well as the “Rings of the Thymus Chakra.” It also involves
mudras, mantras, harmonics, geometric shapes, symbols, visualizations,
and other practices from the “Healing Buddha.”
Go to www.newlifereikiseichim.com.au.
Ra~Sheeba
This is a similar section to the SKHM style of all love. It is based on
the Egyptian system of Reiki, which was very powerful but was corrupted
by the Pharaoh. It is believed that the universal energy becomes stronger
as people participate in the art. To heal, it works on the chakras and
the electromagnetic fields around living beings. There are many groups
of people developing this Egyptian style of universal energy, this information
was found at http://au.geocities.com/tc_crystal/whatisrasheeba.html, but
also see “Seichim...”
Reiki
Plus
The Reiki Plus Institute was developed by David Jarrell. It is unique
in the sense that it weaves concepts of self-love, Sisterhood and Brotherhood
or light, as well as a complete system on the “Etheric Body.”
It also works to enhance intuition and kinesthetic sensitivity. Though
the founder died a few years ago, the Institution is still functioning
at this web site www.reikiplus.com.
SSR
SSR is the combination and unification of the main universal healing systems,
Reiki, Sekhem, and Seichim. These systems have different names but use
the same universal energy. SSR has tried to bring the styles together
at their web site www.celestialwellspring.com/ssr.html.
Seichim or Seichem or Sekhem which developed into SKHM (All Love)
Patrick Ziegler rediscovered this universal energy while in Egypt. It
is the type of healing work that the ancient Egyptians developed long
ago. This is a group oriented type of Reiki and uses the infinity symbol.
It is different because it is not Japanese but Egyptian in origin. The
definition and spelling of the word used for the name is ambiguous but
means some sort of power such as “The Natural Force, Vital Force,
Spiritual Power, or Place of Power.” Visit Ziegler’s web page
http://skhm.org. Furthermore, Helen Belot also contacted this Egyptian
energy and created a practice that can be found at www.sekhem.org.
Satya Japanese Reiki
This
is another traditional type of Reiki based on the original teachings of
Usui Mikao, which offers information and training services at their center
online at www.satyacenter.com.
Sun Li Chung Reiki
This is a Reiki that was developed in Israel by Yosef Shardon. It has thousands of symbols. Information about how to learn this type of Reiki is difficult but its history can be found at www.lifepositive.com/Body/energy-healing/reiki/reiki-masters.asp.
Ter
Mai Reiki And Tere Mai Seichem
Kathleen Ann Milner had studied many different types of Reiki but then
talked to God and developed her own types of Reiki and Seichem. The philosophies
of these energy practices differ from the traditional practices. To find
out more, go to Milner’s home page at www.kathleenmilner.com/Tera_Mai.htm.
The
Radiance Technique
The Radiance Technique International Association was developed by Dr.
Barbera Ray. This Association is based on the original Japanese teachings,
but involves more levels, attunements, and degrees. Check out the institution’s
web site at www.trtia.org.
Tibetan Reiki
This
is a broad group of Reiki traditions that are linked back to Tibetan traditional
healing practices. Wei Chi Tibetan Reiki is one site for information www.weichireiki.com.
Also The Dancing Bear Way discusses Tibetan Reiki at their web page www.dancing-bear.com/tibetan.htm.
They describe this type of Reiki energy as being smoother, yellow or orange,
and different than Usui Mikao’s Japanese Reiki energy.
Tummo Rei Ki
This is a type of Tibetan Reiki which was developed by Mr. Irmansyah Effendi. In some ways it is the most ancient because it is still connected to the original Tibetan roots. It is believed to have been taught by the Buddha himself as a way to achieve enlightenment in this lifetime. It dives into the principles of Kundalini energy and the chakras. Information on this system of Reiki can be found at www.padmajaya.com.
Usui-Do
(Traditional Japanese Reiki)
This is the type of Reiki developed by Usui Mikao and passed down to his
student Yuji Onuki Sr. It is closely connected with Japanese martial arts.
The Traditional Japanese Reiki Association is devoted to this system and
more information can be found at www.usui-do.org.
Usui Shiki Ryoho
The Reiki Alliance is a center for Usui Shiki Ryoho. It comes from Mrs. Hawayo Takata’s teachings, an american born Japanese woman, who taught traditional Japanese styles in Hawaii after learning from Hayashi Chujiro. The alliance’s web site is found at www.reikialliance.com.
Usui/Tibetan Reiki William Rand, the founder of the International Center for Reiki Training also developed Usui/Tibetan Reiki which combines Usui Mikao’s methods with traditional methods used in Tinetan. Once again the Institution’s web site is www.reiki.org.
Other than these types, almost every practitioner has a different style of Reiki. This is merely a short list that may help you find a teacher that suits you. There are also many websites about Reiki, some of which are listed in the bibliography. Also, there is most likely a Reiki teacher in your own local town since Reiki is so widespread now. Look in your local metaphysical newsletters and stores for your local Reiki teachers.
