Ceremony
(This is an excerpt from a University Of Metaphysical Sciences course at www.umsonline.org, please feel free to visit the school website)
Ceremony is used to create a sacred space for spiritual connection. The sense of ceremony is presence, receptivity, relaxation and mindfulness. It is being rather than doing or having. Ceremony is purposeful spontaneity, a flowing pattern, a simple elegance. It can be in solitude with another or with many others. There is a sense of wholeness of connection of communion. A sensual ceremony is a special gift. It is a physical sharing of warmth and caring. It is an expression of tenderness, giving this gift of pleasure we invite another to be guided into the inner garden in the quiet of sanctuary we nourish each sense.
Here, the inner flower awakens and blooms. Our softly spoken words weave a meadow in herbal water we bathe out finger squeezed drops of sweetness from fresh fruit. Lullabying, we embrace like island breezes, we caress with feathers glistening, with oil our hands dance.
When each sense is nurtured in gentleness, the heart is touched and we experience joy. You can create the sacred space by cleaning and decorating with objects that set the sensual mood, pictures or photographs, flowers, candles, music, scents, singing bowl. Using the mantra Om which is the primordial sound of the universe to begin and end the time together.
