A Gazing
(This is an excerpt from a University Of Metaphysical Sciences course at www.umsonline.org, please feel free to visit the school website)
The aim of this exercise is to create a soul connection through looking deeply into the eyes of your beloved. The eyes are considered the windows of the soul.
- Sitting on the floor in open lotus posture with your back straight, legs opened out, bent at the knee with your feet loosely one in front of the other, gaze into your partner’s eyes.
- Hold each other’s gaze steadily, without letting your eyes flick all over their face. Just observe your partner. Gaze at them without thoughts, without assessing their appearance or anything about them. Try to settle your mind, and just be in the presence of your beloved.
- Without speaking, look into your beloved. Open your heart to your beloved.
- Synchronize your breath. The man usually follows the pace of the woman’s breathing (you can swap later.)
- While looking into your partner’s eyes, focus on the sacred connection between the two of you, and then gradually extend your awareness out into the whole world, feeling a connection with the universe.
