Unity Through Sacred Sound

(This is an excerpt from a University Of Metaphysical Sciences course at www.umsonline.org, please feel free to visit the school website)

The aim is to experience your partner as an energetic mirror of yourself, and then merge into union with your partner.

  1. Both partners sit in a comfortable position facing each other. Gaze into each other’s right eye. Find a rhythm of breathing together that is slow, deep and trusting.
  2. Co-ordinate your breath so that you are breathing in as your partner is breathing out. Once co-ordination is established, visualize your breathing as the waves of the ocean, rolling in and out with each breath.
  3. After a short period, one partner begins to say aloud, “om” with the out breath, directing the sound to the heart chakra of the other. As the first partner begins to breathe in again, the other one breathes out, chanting “om” on the out breath.
  4. After several rounds of breathing you’ll both feel a deepening of connection and completion. At the end you can rest in the awareness of oneness by closing your eyes. Keep up your coordinated breathing and humming.
